of Jos (UNIJOS) – Accounting Admission Requirements
The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in
Accounting at the University of Jos is a competitive and highly sought-after
programme within the Faculty of Management Sciences. Admission into this
programme is offered through two main pathways: UTME (Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination) and Direct Entry.
1. UTME Admission Requirements
a.
O'Level Requirements (WAEC/NECO/GCE)
Candidates must have at least five
(5) credit passes in relevant subjects, obtained in not more than two
sittings, including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics
- Plus two other relevant subjects (e.g. Accounting, Commerce,
Government, Geography)
b.
UTME Subject Combination
To be eligible, candidates must sit
for the following subjects in UTME:
- Use of English (compulsory)
- Mathematics
- Economics
- One other relevant Social Science subject (e.g.
Commerce or Government)
c.
UTME Cut-Off Mark
- The general UTME cut-off mark for UNIJOS is 180,
- However, for competitive courses like Accounting, a
score of 220 and above improves your chances significantly.
2.
Direct Entry Requirements
Applicants who wish to apply through
Direct Entry must satisfy the following:
a.
O'Level Requirements
Same as UTME candidates: Five
credits including English, Mathematics, and Economics.
b.
Additional Qualifications (any of the following):
- A’ Level passes
in at least two subjects including Economics, Accounting, or Business
Studies
- OND/HND
in relevant fields (e.g. Accounting, Banking & Finance) with at least Upper
Credit
- NCE with
relevant subject combinations
- Professional qualifications such as ICAN, ANAN, or equivalent (final level)
Duration
of Programme
- UTME Candidates:
4 years
- Direct Entry Candidates: 3 years
Students must complete the required
credit units and maintain satisfactory academic performance throughout the
programme.
