LASU Indigeneship Verification Exercise (IIVC)
· LASU Indigeneship Verification Exercise (IIVC)
The Lagos State University
Indigeneship Verification Exercise is an important process carried out by
the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (IIVC). It is
specifically for candidates who claim Lagos State origin and are seeking
admission into LASU through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination
(UTME) or Direct Entry.
This verification helps to confirm
the authenticity of a candidate’s Lagos State indigeneship status and
qualifies them to benefit from special admission considerations and, in
some cases, reduced school fees.
· Who Should Apply?
To be eligible for the LASU
indigeneship verification, you must:
- Be an applicant who selected LASU as your first
choice institution in the UTME or Direct Entry.
- Have scored at least 195 in the UTME.
- Claim to be of Lagos State origin and wish to be
considered under the Lagos State indigeneship quota.
· Required Documents
Applicants are expected to present both
original and photocopies of the following:
- Birth certificate or sworn declaration of age
- Local Government Identification Letter
- Letter of attestation from a recognized Oba or
traditional ruler in Lagos State
- Evidence of parent(s)' Lagos State origin (e.g. birth
certificate, LGA certificate)
- JAMB UTME/DE registration slip
- O’Level result(s)
- Two recent passport photographs
- Printed copy of the online IIVC application form
· How to Apply
- Visit the IIVC Portal:
Go to www.lasu.edu.ng
and follow the instructions to access the indigeneship verification
portal.
- Login with your JAMB Registration Number
- Fill the online application form
- Make payment
for the verification (amount will be displayed on the portal)
- Print out the application slip after successful submission
- Attend the scheduled physical screening at your chosen division in Lagos
· Screening Schedule
The exercise is usually conducted in
phases based on the five administrative divisions of Lagos State:
- Ikeja Division
- Badagry Division
- Ikorodu Division
- Lagos Island Division
- Epe Division
Each division has specific dates and
venues for verification. A mop-up session is usually held for candidates
who miss their scheduled date.
· For Returning Applicants
Candidates who had previously
undergone indigeneship verification in past years (e.g., 2022/2023 or
2023/2024) do not need to reapply. Instead, they should revalidate
their status on the portal and pay the applicable fee.
· Important Notes
- Only genuine indigenes will be cleared. Any
false claims may lead to disqualification.
- The indigeneship verification does not guarantee
automatic admission—it only qualifies the candidate to be considered
under the Lagos State quota.
- All payments should be made only through the official
LASU IIVC portal.
- Avoid fraudsters and third-party agents.
✅
Final Tips
- Apply early once the portal opens—typically around July
each year.
- Ensure all documents are complete and authentic.
- Prepare well for the interview; know basic information
about your local government and traditional ruler.
- Keep all receipts and slips for reference.
